Fir Tree, North Camp

The Fir Tree was located on Lynchford Road, close to North Camp station and the Old Ford pub. Due to its proximity to the station and nearby barracks the pub was popular with soldiers and opened in 1862. The first landlord is reported to be Mr. L. Monoghan and he announced in the local press that he had obtained a wines and spirits license and could sell a wide variety of beers. The Fir Tree was reputed to have been used as a ticket office for the horse drawn tram service that ran from North Camp station to Farnborough mainline station via North Camp village. Part of the pub's car park was removed to make way for the then new A331 Blackwater valley road in the early 1990s and the pub eventually closed in the late 1990s.
