Attractive thatched pub standing at gateway to the Isle of Purbeck. Formerly a butcher's shop, this 17th-century inn hosted Cromwell's troops in 1642. An excellent menu is served in the beamed bar or dedicated restaurant. Four handpumps dispense two regular beers and two guests. A pleasant garden and patio area in the summer with annual beer festivals and bonfire party.

Two entrances on the flat, one especially wide enough for wheelchairs. Bar and restaurant are accessible (some steps down to part of bar but causes no problem) Large Disabled toilet with alarm etc., beside the normal ladies all on flat.
