Large pub, built for Mappins Brewery of Rotherham in 1936. Originally named King Edward VIII, but quickly renamed when the king abdicated. Since refurbishment by Ember Inns, the interior has been opened out, creating good disabled access. There is an extensive garden and patio to the rear and a function room upstairs. Food available daytime and evening plus takeaway food. Cask beers are cheaper on Mondays and Thursdays. There is also a cask club. The cask beers are sourced from breweries large and small throughout the country. Sometimes there are less real ales available. A general knowledge quiz take place on Thursday evenings. Please be aware that the bar may close earlier than the advertised time.
