Long standing real ale pub at the edge of the village, standing back from the road to Wentworth and the car park, Reopened in July 2018, following a lengthy period of closure, under new ownership, leaseholder and management. This follows a £430,00 refurbishment and complete relaunch of the pub. Some original features have been retained in a pub that dates from 1878. Old photographs of Thorpe Hesley and Wentworth adorn the walls. Now majoring on food from an extensive chef's menu. There may be up to three real ales on the bar with a selection of craft beers too. A well appointed outside area can seat 100 people and includes cosy heated sheds for if the weather isn't too great. The garden features benches and tables surrounded by greenery. Note the old William Younger's sign over the side entrance, a throw back to when the pub was owned by the Scottish Brewery. A Tuesday night quiz and occasional live music acts are held. Reopened in early October 2023 under new tenants, following closure on 17/6/2023.
