Reopened on 21st June 2021 selling 3 real ales after being closed since 2007! Subject to a campaign, led by the local parish council, residents and supported by the local CAMRA branch to stop the building being demolished or altered in 2018. It was then acquired by a new owner with the intention to reopen the premises as a pub again in April 2020, following extensive but sympathetic restoration. The reopening has been delayed due to Covid-19 restrictions. The new owner had previously turned around the Robin hood pub at nearby Aughton. The pub majors on good food but also welcomes drinkers. The pub is at the heart of the historic village that is only accessed by the 20 bus 3 times a day , Monday to Saturday, though it can be reached, via a 20-minute walk from the nearest bus stop in Thurcroft. There is a children's playground across the road.
