Much larger within than you might expect from the exterior , this pub has been much extended over the years. Although basically open plan, there are three bars, cask beer is available from the one at the front. TYs predominate showing all manner of sporting events. Live music followed by DJs feature on Friday nights. There are some tables out front and a garden area to the right hand side along with a further bar. Upstairs is a function room called the Loft.

Five handpumps serve and ever changing range of beers of all styles.

Historic Interest

Originally called the Globe, it became the Smithfield in 1916 and the Proud Salopiian, named after Thomas Southam who was four times lord mayor of Shrewsbury.
