This Pub is Permanently Closed
Pub closed 2011. Now a coffee house. Extensively refurbished large, rambling and busy city centre pub, dating from 1838 and believed part of the old castle. The sign depicts the infamous Judge Jeffries. Food is produced at the servery (1200-2130 Mon-Sat, 1200-1500 & 1800-2130 Sun), and can be consumed in any of the numerous corners and alcoves. A fourth real ale, Sharp's Doom Bar, may also be available at times. The Cornish Folk Club meets here on the last Friday of each month, and there is a folk 'open mic' session on alternate Wednesdays. Families welcome.
