Crieff Hotel, Crieff

Hotel with bars open to the public.

Former hotel situated in the centre of town. For food, there was the Brasserie or the Oyster bar. Own hairdressing salon. Served real ale from Inveralmond for a while.

The hotel closed in 2017, and lay empty until 2025, falling into disrepair.

Preparatory work started in January 2025, eventually leading to the complete demolition of the former Crieff Hotel later in the year. It marked the start of the next phase of local charity Creative Crieff’s wide-ranging development of the one-time East High Street hospitality venue – which was also once known as the Star Hotel.

Efforts continue to bring ‘The Star Experience’ to life. Creative Crieff’s vision is to turn the site into a blend of cinema, dining, radio and green spaces. The radio hub element is the result of a collaboration with Heartland FM, which launched in an expanded format last year following a merger with what was then Radio Earn and is now based in the town.
