Pleasant community pub with three distinct drinking areas plus seated restaurant area. Has been carefully developed over the years. Popular with walkers, cyclists and canal users. Good range of beers from the Marston's portfolio. Very friendly staff. Won the regional final [North] for Marston's Community Food Pub of the Year 2014.

On 1836 Tithe Map it is shown as ' House with garden'. On the 1887 OS Map it is labelled as the 'Rising Sun'. Can cater for special occasions; parties, funerals, weddings etc. Recent winner of local CAMRA award.
