An ancient Coaching Inn and one of the oldest and most prominent buildings in this large village. There are six refurbished en suite double bedrooms. Open all day from 11am with roaring log fires in the winter and a lovely sunny garden in the summer. Children are welcome throughout the hotel, with a play fort in the garden and children’s menu.
Dogs are welcome and they can be fed and watered if required.
The oldest part of the building is the lower bar which is believed to date from the mid 15th Century. The building has grown considerably from this time with the majority of the building being Georgian, including the impressive arched entrance to the Courtyard, through which you reach the car park and the walled garden. It is said that Judge Jeffreys held Court in the room above the lower bar in the 17th Century.
