The Buck is an old half-timbered pub that reopened in Nov 2021. The bar serves up to five beers supplied by nearby Stow Fen Brewery + others. There is a main bar area with fireplace, a separate dining room and a large snug with comfortable seating and a huge fireplace. A child and dog friendly courtyard garden has been created adjacent to a function room. Next door to the pub is the Norfolk and Suffolk Aviation Museum, which is located on land supplied by a former owner of the pub.
Historic Interest
A report in the Ipswich Journal on 25 Sep 1802 states that: Sale of contents at the sign of The Buck, Flixton, near Bungay, late in the occupation of Mr BEAUMENT, deceased, on 04 Oct 1802. The 1861 & 1871 censuses show the pub next to, or near, Old Buck, which might suggest that the pub had relocated before 1861. A curiosity is that Alan Breeze, one-time singer with the Billy Cotton Band, was landlord here for many years. Photographs of this pub and more historical information about it can be found at suffolk.camra.org.uk/pub/306
