Historic Interest
The Victoria Hotel opened in 1837 and listed in Bagshaw's Directory of 1850. It had some famous visitors over the yearsincluding Dr Crippen and Emmeline Pankhurst. It was a free house selling Draught Bass, Bass Cask Bitter and Davenports Bitter in 1980. Described in 1990 as a sprawling Victorian Hotel, unspoilt with good views of the river estuary and seafront - and by this time serving Websters Yorkhire Bitter and Ruddles County by handpump. Closed in 2004 and demolished two years later. The site now developed as residential.
