Historic Interest

The hotel opened in 1865, an imposing Victorian building in a seafront location overlooking Marine Promenade, The hotel bar, later known as the Stage Door Tap, was tied to Higsns in the 1980s but later operated as a free house selling a range of regional real ales until the business closed on 25 March 2019. Planning permission to demolish the building and replace it with a new hotel was refused in 2021.
