Former coaching inn, this popular cosy traditional pub is by the edge of Storeton Woods and has a country pub feel. Decorated throughout with brasses and bric-a-brac. The main area has a central bar and there are two side rooms. The guest ales are sometimes from local microbreweries. Real cider sometimes available. Quiz night on Monday and live music on Saturday. Good traditional home cooked pub food. No evening meals Monday and Tuesday.
Historic Interest
Dating back as a pub to at least 1860, taken over from the Argyle Brewery (Cook Brothers) by Birkenhead Brewery in 1866 - see early photo of the pub taken about 1910. Also at some time it may have been a West Cheshire Brewery pub. Selling Whitbread beers in the 1980s.
