Reopened in late 2024, having been closed for almost two years, so some information here might be inaccurate.
A beautiful pub in soft Cotswold-style stone in a quiet village is off the beaten track, but well worth looking for. It has been sympathetically restored and now has modern facilities while retaining its old-world charm.
Currently only one real ale - from Timothy Taylor, either Landlord or Golden Best.
It shows Rugby matches etc in the function room which is separate from the main pub. It welcomes walkers and has traditional games such as Skittles (it is in the local league); darts; pool and dominoes.
It not only has full meals (full menu all day and lunch menu until 4.30) but an interesting range of bar snacks to accompany its well-kept beer. If you are planning to go there for a formal meal it is advisable to book in advance - certainly Sunday and Wednesday which is Steak Night.
Historic Interest
The original pub was an old mill that burnt down in the 18th century.
