This Pub is Closed Long Term

The Gorse Hill is a big imposing red brick building from the early Edwardian era. No longer a hotel, it remains a busy community pub, and gets extremely busy when Manchester United play at home. Owned by Greene King for many years, the pub was closed suddenly by them in December 2015 and sold in early January. It re-opened in February 2016, then closed again after a fire during refurbishment in 2018. More hard work and expense led to re-opening again in 2019. The pub can seem more than a little bare during the day but that's mainly because the seating is all around the walls and most of the floor space is for standing drinkers on match days and at night. A reminder of the pub's original multi-room layout can be found in the space immediately to the left as you enter. It's still got three and a half walls and a fireplace but no door or even doorway now.
