Following various incarnations this venue reopened in early 2022 under one of its previous names, Pelican. And there is indeed a stuffed pelican in a glass case above the bar.
The venue is food-orientated and has gained some very good food reviews, but it also retains a local community vibe with the upstairs room hosting a children's play area on your surveyor's visit. Food includes bar snacks as well as the main dining menu.
The pub has been described as "Essentially, a glamorous country inn in the city". Sadly, ale handpumps were removed in 2023. But, on the upside: Princess Eugenie and singer Dua Lipa are said to be among the regulars, and the pub has gained a big following for its British menu and its listing in the Michelin restaurant guide, and is said to have gone viral on TikTok! Media reports state that on certain evenings the pub may become very crowded.
Public House Group is the umbrella company from the team behind The Pelican. Further site openings are planned.
As of early 2024 there are various noise restrictions within the Council alcohol licence, being challenged by the pub owners.
