First opened in 1874, rebuilt 1898 and after various ups and downs, reopened in early 2023 following a change of management. The pub is now part of the small Yellow Panda pub operation.

Between two and three cask ales, from a varied rotating range, will usually include a best bitter, a pale ale and a stout or porter.
