This Pub is Permanently Closed

New owner Richard Grey planned to run this pub more as a restaurant with a Bar serving regular guest ales. Re-opened August 2010 after a period of closure & renovation, but sadly closed again mid-2012. The building dates from the early 19th century.

Historic Interest

Historically is often listed in Long Melford. A report in the Ipswich Journal** in Dec 1820 states that : "A few days since was married, at Long Melford, Mr Bulmer, hairdresser, to Miss Sarah Borley, daughter of Mr Borley, of the Rose & Crown Inn, Long Melford." A report in the Ipswich Journal** in 1841 (Apr-03) when Sarah Arbon (wife) was landlady of the Rose? states: "A witness in a case of robbery & wounding.
