Good beer, food & conversation are the mainstay of this traditional village local. With a huge back garden containing plenty to keep children occupied it is ideal for families in the summer months. Have a look at the amazing collection of copper & brass while trying the Adnams beers along with the occasional guest. Food is served either in the bar or restaurant. Look out for the whale's jawbone that you pass through as you enter the front door.

Historic Interest

The building dates from the 17th or 18th century. In June/July 1981 edition of Last Orders*** it was reported that Brian & Geraldine Sparkes were here (a previously Charrington house) now Adnams & recently refurbished. Now with occasional Country & Western evenings & various bar snacks. In the following edition it was also stated that they "had turned a dull fizz pub into a pub any CAMRA person would be glad to call their local." Photographs of this pub and more historical information about it can be found at suffolk.camra.org.uk/pub/349

On the right is the lounge / restaurant with another late 1950s bar counter with a black Formica top.
