June 2024 - 2 Handpumps neither in use
May 2022 name changed to Hornsey Arms.
November 2021 - an instagram post shows restoration taking place on the path to reopening. https://www.instagram.com/thehornseytavern/
Update October 2019 - Planning application registered to move part of pub to basement & build flat on ground floor. Objections submitted.
"Walked by pub on 8th Sept and it was closed and boarded up on ground floor. Large extension built to rear of pub and mansard roof extension. Works look complete. Old Greene King sign 'Lord Palmerston' still hanging on front of pub, but all other pub signage has been removed."
NOTE - from the pub's twitter feed Feb 2018, "Sad day today. The hornsey tavern is handed over to developers for yet more flats. Please come and see us at our new venue 4 doors down. Previously Br88...now The Tav"
This pub was sold (Sept 2016) by Greene King to a private operator. Hence the information that follows is here for reference back only - Single bar pub on rising levels converted from a three bar pub. This a community pub with a warm atmosphere. The decoration has a red theme, with many signs and posters on the walls and fingerboards pointing to different points of the globe, although the distances shown bear little connection with reality. There is a pool table at the rear. Background music plays and a TV showed football with the sound off at the time of the visit.
