Immaculately run but welcoming traditional village inn in an idyllic former lead-mining village near the head of Swaledale. Popular with walkers, cyclists and other visitors, who are often tackling the nearby Coast-to-Coast and Pennine Way routes. The stone-flagged, much-wooded bar is warmed by an open fire and has a cabinet of breweriana.
Joined the list of the branch's community-owned pubs in August 2024, with new tenants in summer 2024. Now fully open with food available daily. Walk-ins only; no bookings taken.
