17th century free house of character in little village square just off the Arkengarthdale road. A very traditional inn, with a long-standing landlady, it does not serve meals but ice cream, chocolate. hot drinks and bar snacks are available. It featured in BBC tv’s “All Creatures Great and Small”, and lies a couple of hundred yards off the main road.
