Sunnyside Hotel, Bolton

The pub was listed in John Stotts 1977 Guide to Good Beer in Bolton as selling Tetley Mild and Bitter (E) , with TV, Juke Box, darts, dominoes, pool, snacks and bowling green. In an article in July 1979 the pub was included as it still had its bowling green. It was included in the 1980 selective Greater Manchester Guide. In May 1981 this was a Tetley pub selling Mild and Bitter (E), however by August 1981 it was rumoured to be closing. THe rumour was true and the pub closed but it took Tetley until November 1983 before the pub was put up for sale. The pub reopened in late 1985 with Dave Rawlinson of the Half Moon in Tyldesley as Landlord. Beers available were Boddingtons Mild and Bitter, Oldham Bitter plus a guest initially Old Oak from Ellesmere Port. A social was held here on February 23rd and again on March 17th 1986 with a Branch Meeting on April 2nd. However the nearby Sunniside Mills had closed a couple of years previously and the lack of this trade meant the tpub was not viable and Hydes Bitter was to be the last guest beer before the pub had closed before July 1986, howver it did reopen in late September 1986 but only selling Boddingtons Bitter. It was included in the 1987 Good Beer Guide. However the pub closed again after a fire in January 1988 and reopened in June 1988 with a Childrens play area and a car park added. A social was held here on August 21st 1988 to drink the Boddingtons Bitter. By December 1988 the owners had received an offer they could not refuse and the pub was to be converted into a Nursing home.
