In the heart of Wells, on the high street, this is one of Wells' oldest pubs with late 18th century façade to 14th century building. Grade II* Listed (Historic England list entry 1382974). It has two, back to back, bars, both with large seating areas, and an upstairs lounge area overlooking the street. Outside, at the back, there is a courtyard.
Now with three ales on, the better ones in the back bar.
