Enjoy the sunshine and support community pubs in Bristol

Bristol & District CAMRA are celebrating a Summer of Pub this Saturday (18 June) with a pub walk through Kingsdown and Cotham. The trail includes Good Beer Guide regulars, Grade II listed buildings and a great selection of local and nationally acclaimed beers and ciders.

Beginning at the Highbury Vaults, St Michaels Hill at 12pm, the trail will take walkers on to the Robin Hood, and from there will visit the Green Man in Kingsdown. The penultimate pub on the walk is the Hillgrove Porter Stores in Kingsdown, with the trail finishing at the nearby Hare on the Hill.

The walk is part of the Campaign for Real Ale’s (CAMRA) Summer of Pub campaign, which encourages people all across the country to get down to their locals. After two years of restrictions and reduced trade, pubs need support more than ever, and the summer months are the perfect opportunity to enjoy the atmosphere and culture provided by UK pubs.

Beer-lovers can find pubs and breweries putting on Summer of Pub events by using CAMRA’s interactive map listing activities nearby.

CAMRA South West Regional Director and trail leader Peter Bridle said: “This walk is a brilliant opportunity for beer and cider lovers, and those who just love a stroll, to come together to celebrate the hard work of brewers, publicans and bar staff over the last two years. Come along and enjoy the weather and the company, and maybe try a new tipple along the way. If you can’t join us this weekend, make sure to take a trip down to your local as soon as you can.”
