Description

The brewery was built in 1879 by a relative of Samuel Smith (qv). John Smith's became part of the Courage group in 1970 before being taken over by S&N and now Heineken UK. John Smith's cask Magnet has been discontinued. The brewery does not produce any real ales. John Smith's Bitter is brewed elsewhere.
