Hi Emma,

I updated BIS a while ago, all the brewing equipment had been removed and I was informed the direction they were taking was as a specialist Gin Bar.

In reality, I have had little success here as a BLO. The pub has repeatedly failed to engage. The staff know little about the operation strategically and refer me to the manager. I have engaged with the manager who has referred me to a director at the parent company. Repeated emails have not been replied to. Repeated visits have met with … I don’t know, you’ll have to speak to the manager … which reinitiates the sequence described above.

The pub is owned by Sandinista Group, which is owned by a sole director, Simon Ord, who is also a director at Ilkley Brewery.

At our LeedsCAMRA branch meeting last night we were informed by a wholly reliable source that the pub has now closed!

The facts, whilst I have been BLO are;

1. The pub has never brewed any beer.
2. At no time has there ever been sufficient equipment in their brewery to effectively brew beer

My personal opinion is that at no time has there ever been, nor ever will be, any intention to brew beer on these premises and we prematurely entered the premises on BIS entirely on the basis that they had installed ‘some’ brewing equipment behind a glass screened area that 'had potential' to be operated as a micro brewery.

The premises should be removed from the guide until such time as there is real and tangible evidence that beer will be brewed on the premises.

Additionally, I personally checked on Sunday afternoon 11-06-17 and the Black Swan was shut, al the blinds were drawn and the premises appeared to have been closed.
