Description

This Trappist monastery has been brewing since 2018. It produces the first authentic Trappist beer to be brewed in England and is one of only nine Trappist breweries in the world. It currently brews three beers, Tynt Meadow (7.4% strong English ale), Tynt Meadow Blond (5% blond ale) and Guest House Beer (5.2% dark ale). All are bottle-conditioned and available direct from the monastery. Tynt Meadow and Tynt Meadow Blond are also available online and via select outlets nationwide.

Brewery Tours

We run regular tours of our brewing facility at Mount St Bernard. Not only are we proud of our humble home, but we also take pride in the endeavours of the monks who oversee the creation of our unique English Trappist Ale. Furthermore, we are happy to welcome visitors who wish to learn more about the intricate process of ale-making and how we carefully craft Tynt Meadow.
In fact, Mount St Bernard Trappist Brewery is the only Trappist Brewery in the United Kingdom. During our tours, visitors will experience an insightful journey that entwines the ale-making process with the rich history behind our order and home at Mount St Bernard.
We also have an on-site shop that sells the Tynt Meadow beers together with a selection of beers from all the other Trappist Breweries in the Netherlands, Belgium and Italy - Chimay, La Trappe, Tre Fontane, Orval, Rochefort, Westmalle, Westvleteren and Zundert. The Brewery Shop is open on Saturday Brewery Tour days only, between 11:30 – 16:30.
Importantly, all proceeds raised from tour operations and our brewery shop contribute directly to the upkeep of our community and also support our charitable works.
The nature of our brewery tours requires us to operate them when the facility is not in active production, ensuring that we maintain a peaceful and tranquil environment for the monastic order of monks in residence.
