The Pomona award, which is named after the Roman goddess of fruit trees, gardens and orchards, honours a person, group, organisation, idea or concept (where a recipient can be identified) that has made an outstanding achievement, commitment, or contribution to the promotion of real cider or perry.
Nominations are now open and will close 1 August 2026.
This award is presented by CAMRA to a person, group, organisation, idea or concept (where a recipient can be identified) that has made an outstanding achievement, commitment, or contribution to the promotion of real cider or perry.
This has to be above and beyond what is happening elsewhere in the UK. The primary consideration is given to activities over the previous 12 months, however, where there is no outstanding contender in this category, consideration is then given to ongoing outstanding work in this field. All forms of cider and perry related activity will be considered.
Individuals will not be eligible for this award if their contribution is for or within CAMRA, as Campaigner of the Year is more appropriate. Pubs are not eligible if their contribution is just selling cider, as the National Cider and Perry Pub of the Year award is more appropriate.
The closing date for nominations is 1 August 2026. Worthy nominations received after this date may be considered for an award in May 2027. The award will only be awarded in years when it is felt there is a suitable candidate.
The Hartpury Heritage Trust in Gloucestershire has won CAMRA’s Pomona Award for playing a vital role in preserving the UK's perry heritage.
Celebrated for their work in preventing the extinction of a wide variety of perry pears, the Hartpury Heritage Trust’s nomination impressed judges.
