This Other Drinking Establishment is Permanently Closed
This is an other drinking establishment and you may be charged for entrance at certain times.
Closed approximately 2012 and after some time lying empty was extensively renovated and put on the market as a pub.
It was subsequently bought by the local community and was opened as the "Rose & Crown Community Hub" in June 2017; essentially a village hall (but without a bar). Various events now being held on the premises.
Historic Interest
Not listed in 1916 Kelly's Directory. (Closed during war?) Closed & empty in 2012. Owners Greene King submitted plans to convert the pub into a residential property & to build five further houses on the 0.32 hectare site. The plans to convert the site were opposed by Beck Row, Holywell Row & Kenny Hill Parish Council, which said: “The loss of any amenity is to the detriment of both existing & future residents. Public transport to nearby towns has been greatly reduced, particularly in the evenings, & the parish council feels that it is essential that the limited amenities Beck Row does have should be retained. We fully support them in this. Photographs of this pub and more historical information about it can be found at suffolk.camra.org.uk/pub/53
