This is a 3,600sq ft, two-storey 1840-build pub site, from June 2025 in a new incarnation as The Chalk freehouse. It's run by chef Tom De Keyser who has worked with Tom Kerridge for many years. Top-quality gastropub food is available at lunch (including a set-lunch menu) and dinner.
Three ale handpumps include a "monthly special" on cask, plus a wide range of other beer options.
NB if entering or leaving the pub, be careful of the cars and taxis that can swing round this corner quickly.
Historic Interest
The place-name Chelsea derives from the Anglo-Saxon Caelichyth, meaning “chalk wharf”; and the pub name pays homage to the area’s maritime heritage where chalk was once unloaded.
This Pub serves 2 changing beers and 1 regular beer.
