Real ale may not always be available. Beware Hobgoblin/Wainwright beers are keg brewery conditioned beers misleadingly served through a handpump.

Reopened on 10th August 2023 and renamed the Cyclist. A comfortable open-plan pub in a former bicycle shop in the main shopping area.

Misleading Dispense

Historic Interest

Former bicycle shop converted into a pub by Wetherspoons in 2007. Named the John Masefield after the former poet laureate with local links, controversy surrounded the opening when locals suggested that the portrait on the pub's sign looked more like Adolf Hitler. Closed and sold by Wetherspoons on 18th June 2023.
