A Birkenhead Brewery pub opened on 6 May 1960 with the license transferred from Royal Oak 200 yards away in Village Road. Described in 1980 as a typical 1950's pub with subdued decor and PVC seating selling Whitbread Special Cask Bitter on handpump in the lounge only.
