It's hard to work out a closure date for this pub without local knowledge, and the planning trail is somewhat perplexing. 10/01476/CPE was for a 'Lawful development certificate for an existing use of the property as a Public House (A4)', submitted 27/07/2010 and approved 15/10/2010, but subsequent planning applications all relate to its use as a shop; there is no explicit change of use approval. Applications in December 2010 all refer to it as a former public house and 10/02417/FUL states that the roof had lost its lead flashings and gutters and hence there was extensive water damage inside and one of the outbuildings had suffered a fire, all indicating that the pub had been closed for a while. June 2009 images show the pub intact but with 'to let' signs up. From that one can assume the pub closed sometime in 2009 or 2010 and the lawful use as a pub certificate was an attempt to stop it being converted to a shop without approval. In the end it became a Tesco Express.
