This Pub is Closed Long Term

Former pub that reopened as a night club after extensive renovations. As at February 2015 it has planning permission to be demolished and rebuilt as restaurant and bar with flats above (and parking below). Demolition began 25th September 2018

Historic Interest

Originally opened in the 1930s as Cordy's this was once one of Clacton's most exclusive diners. It closed in around 1998 when Greene King purchased it and converted it into The Lighthouse Pub. Sold to Admiral Taverns in 2005 it closed as The Lighthouse in November 2007, and first gained permission to be demolished and rebuilt as a pub restaurant with flats above and parking below in 2008; 2009 saw the top floor removed as a visible sign that work had begun. However, the rest of the work didn't happen and it reopened as the Liquor Lounge at the start of April 2010. It closed as the Liquor Lounge in early 2018 and demolition began in late September.
