Leased by the community.

This 17th-century inn was threatened with closure but in 2022 was successfully taken over and renovated by the community on a tenancy agreement with local brewers Palmers. A fish and chip van calls Tuesday evening when you are welcome to use the pub (plates and cutlery provided) and similarly a pizza van calls on alternate Thursdays. Local CAMRA branch Pub of the Year 2023. Winter hours listed, more generous in other seasons - phone to check.

Broadwindsor Community Pub Ltd campaigned to save the White Lion and in May 2022 the community group leased the pub from the owners Palmers brewery.. Palmers believe this is the only case of a community obtaining a tenancy.
