Historic Interest
17th century (some say 1603) Grade II listed. In early 20th century the pub was called the Falstaff, with the original George being across the road and to the east. The original George was closed in 1912 and the name transferred to the Falstaff. The building was seriously damaged by fire on 14th February 1998 while it was being converted to housing. It was six years before planning and listed building consent was sought and obtained for work to restart.
