The pub was built about 1600, with 18th & 19th century alterations. Reopened 20th December 2024. Initially only open part-time from 6pm-9pm for drinks only. An extension to the hours is expected soon. Offers three changing cask beers.
Historic Interest
Changed name to Dobermann in 1986 by the then landlady who had been a successful breeder of those dogs. Photographs of this pub and more historical information about it can be found at suffolk.camra.org.uk/pub/317 Late in 2023 it was announced that government funding had been secured by a community group hoping to reopen the pub. In 2024 the community group completed the purchase of the pub. They are actively seeking people who would be interested in buying shares to help renovate the pub. The Framsden Social Enterprises Community Benefit Society Ltd campaigned keep the pub open. In Dec 2023 they were awarded a grant of £276,300 from the Community Ownership Fund. In 2024 they completed the purchase of the freehold of the pub. In late December 2024 the pub reopened.
