This is a large pub for a small village and is set up well to cater for all tastes. It has a large restaurant area and separate bar and games room. An extensive menu is available from midday to 8pm everyday making it a popular destination all day long. The Knockin Shop is close by, and the B&B establishment next door is convenient for those that wish to stay and enjoy the picturesque surroundings. A redecoration following new managment in 2022 has improved the interior. The impressive clock over the entrance is noteworthy. Real ale not served.

May close early if quiet.

Historic Interest

Built in 1902, and as with the Bradford Arms in nearby Llanymynech, the pub's name stems from the fact that the Earl of Bradford owned much of the land hereabouts. (The peerage title refers to the ancient hundred of Bradford in Shropshire, there is no Yorkshire connection), The family's coat of arms displayed on the pub sign is an interesting feature ('nec temere nec timide' translates as 'neither rashly nor timidly' the motto of the Bridgeman family, the Earls of Bradford. Up above, there is a three sided clock, donated to the pub by the 4th Earl of Bradford. The pub was also once a part of the large local estate of the Shrewsbury & Wem Brewery.
