This Pub is Permanently Closed

Good-value food is available at lunchtimes in the bistro but it's as an after-work watering hole that Harry's comes into its own. Very popular with business types and sports fans, The atmosphere is good-natured but somehow the clock in here stopped circa 1985, a feeling reinforced by the endless 80s music retro programmes on the TV above the bar.

The Charter Market Quarter has many historical links. One of the only free-standing medieval civic clock towers, the site of the First Battle of St. Albans in 1455, during the Wars of the Roses. Allegedly the Boot Inn played host to soldiers fighting in the battle. There used to be 23 pubs around the Market area!
