City-centre, Grade II-listed, one-bar pub dating back to 1422, with six cask ales; three regulars and three guests. The historic Clock Tower is outside the front door. The Abbey and Verulamium Park are nearby. Internal features include a low ceiling, and real fire. Home-made food is all locally sourced. Families welcome until 6pm. Still ciders available on hand pump.
