This Pub is Permanently Closed
Pegasus was sadly demolished in March 2021 as part of the Union Street redevelopment in the town centre.
It initially closed in June 2019 reportedly for building works on the adjoining building to be carried out, the pub never reopened.
Since 2005 it had closed and reopened a number of times as a series of different theme bars. What turned out to be it's final incarnation was in May 2015, as Famous Door a bar/nightclub featuring live bands and karaoke. The bar focused on attracting the local Nepalese community.
It was perhaps best known as a traditional pub, popular with the Paras and once featuring on a TV Series Called Britain's Hardest Pubs.
Historic Interest
Originally called "Dibdens Bar", it was renamed in 1949 as the Pegasus. The pub was well known for its connections with the Airborne Forces Regiments and with the events at Arnheim.
