This Pub is Temporarily Closed
A traditional village pub with two bars in a building that dates from around 1700. Situated within the medieval walls and near the castle of this once county town, the Radnor rotates several guest beers from the Welsh border area and a range of real ciders. The nearby Radnorshire Brewery at Brookside Farm is Radnorshire's only brewery and the beers are featured regularly on the bar. The pub is popular with visitors to the nearby caravan site.
The pub is temporarily closed while The Radnor Arms Community Benefit Society is refurbishing the pub. The reopening date is currently unknown but the pub is regularly opening for 'Pop Inns' when the pub will be open (See the Website and Facebook page for details)
Community Owned
Freehold Owner: Community Benefit Society. Radnor Arms Community Benefit Society. Year Purchased 2022.
A community group acquired the Radnor Arms in New Radnor at auction on the 20th October 2022 for £115,000. The condition of the pub is semi-derelict. A group called the Radnor Arms Action Group (RAAG) was initially behind the initiative and was led by the owner of the (nearby) Radnorshire Brewery, Ben Anson. They establish the Radnor Arms Community Benefit Society and organised a community share scheme, and had total pledges for a little over the asking price (a private individual purchased the pub on their behalf at the auction). In July 2023 they received £244,000 from the Community Ownership Fund to renovate the building into a community pub. They are now renovating the pub.
See the group's website and Facebook page for more details.
