This Pub is Permanently Closed

Used to be Oxford’s only National Inventory pub (of historic pub interiors due to the 50s pine wall panelling and curved counter). Built in 1959 it had been in the same hands for 28 years until it was put up for sale in the summer of 2014. As well as the lounge being a classic, the gents’ toilets retained the original tiling, urinals, and unusual, probably unique, taps. It has been removed from the register because the interior has been comprehensively wrecked. The name comes from that of a local road, which itself is named because of the outlook over Southfield golf course. No attempt made to reopen as a pub after sale and change of use to residential granted December 2016.
