The entrance alcove leads directly from street to bar. Built in the late 1800s this pub has a predominantly local clientele. Although open plan, the décor gives an appearance of two distinct bars; to the left is a wooden-floored public bar, and to the right is a carpeted lounge area. A quiz is held at 9pm on Mondays. A function room is to the rear, as well as a large patio area which overlooks the lower car park. The bus stop to the city centre is just outside the front door.

Historic Interest

Named for Prince George (1819-1904), a grandson of George III and cousin of Queen Victoria, who became Duke of Cambridge in 1850. The Duke was head of the British Army for 40 years until 1895. In 1874, the Duke of Cambridge was a fully licensed house under publican W. Cawkwell (Wright's Directory).

The only public house in the City's Mapperley Ward.

Registered as an Asset of Community Value on the 10th March 2016 and nominated by the Nottingham Branch of CAMRA.
