The pub since April 2025 is operated by a company called Twenty6 who now run 4 pubs as well as an events company and are based in North London. It boasts smart wood panelling, delicious-looking margs and nosh from the North & Ten bagel company (daily until 4pm) and Willy's Pies (5-9pm Wed-Fri, 12-9pm Sat & Sun). There is much evidence of the previous Watney's ownership.

Free cheese on Tuesdays. £5 for selected drinks on Mondays.

"Hornsey Historical Society member David Winskill said: "It's a tiny little pub, one of the last remaining boozers in Crouch End. All of a sudden it's had a makeover and is now called the Wooden Cross."

Small community pub with a friendly welcome, opened in 1877. Small from the outside, cosy on the inside. One wall features historical maps of Crouch End, another has old photos of Irish authors, playwrights and poets. Two televisions offer Sky sports to a discerning audience without dominating the pub. in contrast to the modern trend, the pub still has its dartboard; if you would rather stay seated chess boards are available on request. There is a small outdoor area for smokers at the back of the pub. Like many N8 pubs it hosts a quiz night, the Harringay's offering takes place on Tuesdays.
