This Pub is Closed Long Term
Pleasant and welcoming free house just outside the main town centre, and relying on wet sales alone - a rarity nowadays. Grade II listed, with a central bar and settles around the walls. Two TVs are situated on either side of the bar to the right of which is a passageway leading to a pleasant garden area. Two caravan/camp sites are within easy walking distance.
A Wikipedia entry says "ceased trading in 2018, and the building was stripped of all its pub-related fixtures, then left empty for 4–5 years. It last changed hands in 2023 and it is not expected to be re-opening as a pub". While there was 2018 planning permission for change of use of the ground floor to a beauty and hair salon (DM/2018/00669 passed 22/06/2018) and plans (DM/2018/01493 approved 24/10/2019) to convert the first floor to flats, as of September 2023 no work seems to have started; the Google Streetview images look the same as in 2018.
