17th-century stone inn licensed since at least the 1630s when a coin was held by the licensee in Cirencester. It stands at the heart of the town square, virtually unchanged as a near perfect example of a small Cotswold town pub, popular with locals and tourists alike. Family-run with two bars full of character and packed with fascinating pictures, clocks and other artefacts. No food is served on Sunday evening. Dogs are welcome.
