The Gas Tap is a micro pub that opened in April 2016 in a converted sandwich bar directly opposite St. Mary's Church. Under new management since March 2017 they serve real ale, cider, eight wines, quality spirits, soft drinks & draught Adnams dry hopped lager. It is a single room pub with a capacity of 25 customers of which approximately 21 can be seated. The beers are provided by gravity dispense from a stillage to the left and rear of the pub. A good variety of ales, many local, are provided. The pub menu consists of pork scratchings, crisps and nuts. A free cheeseboard & crackers are provided on Sundays. Recipient of local branch Pub of Merit award September 2017. Situated in the historic building known as "The Old Club" (Melton's first gentlemen's club) frequent visitors were "King of the dandies" Beau Brummell and the Prince Regent. Francis Grant painted "The Melton Breakfast" within the building. The pictures on the wall offer an insight of the façade of the building from 1870 to the present day.
